Where Home Begins Again
WNY Area churches support refugee family on their journey to self-sufficiency in their new home in new city...country.
A group of volunteers from the WNYACIC along with folks from Journey's End Refugee Services (JERS) settled the Ahmed family into their home at the end of April 2022.

Ahmed Family Update
The family continues to thrive in their new environment. The two youngest children are attending the International School and the teenage girls are students at Lafayette High School. We are most excited that the oldest son, at the age of 18, started school for the first time in his life. After several tests and hearing aid adjustments, he was enrolled in St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in the Fall. He is soaking up everything he is learning and is currently on both the soccer and basketball teams. Mom and Dad are also doing well. Dad continues to take English classes while working a full-time job. They are welcoming a baby (a US citizen in July)!
Although our three-week commitment to help the family through Journey’s End has elapsed. We are still offering help to navigate daily needs as they arise. Those working closely with the Ahmed family, truly enjoy our time spent together. They are hardworking, kind, gracious and grateful. The connections WNYACIC has made with the Ahmed family have been filled with moments of grace that we are all thankful for. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them.
~ Together we can make a difference. ~
